Today in Paris, under the High Patronage of the Malaysian Prime Minister, Mr Najib Tun Razak, Peugeot Automobiles and the Naza Group, one of Malaysia's leading car makers, signed a Memorandum of Understanding for assembly of the 207 Sedan.
The agreement was signed at the Hotel Georges V in Paris, during the official visit of the Malaysian Prime Minister to France. Messrs Nasarudin Nasimuddin, Chairman of the Naza Group, and Jean-Marc Gales, Executive President of Peugeot Automobiles, were the signatories.

This project follows an initial phase of cooperation between the Naza Group, an industrial partner of considerable renown, and Peugeot Automobiles beginning in 2006 with assembly of the 206 saloon.
This new stage marks the consolidation of the partnership between Peugeot Automobiles and the Malaysian car maker. It covers the assembly and marketing of 207 Sedan vehicles totalling 18,000 units.
By making this move, Peugeot is strengthening its positions in the ASEAN, one of the largest economic growth areas in the Asia-Pacific region and pushing ahead with its development internationally (outside Europe), a market which already accounts for 40% of its annual global sales.

Assembly of the 207 Sedan in Malaysia should enable the group to benefit from customs agreements within the ASEAN in order to export to other countries in this zone (Thailand, Indonesia, etc.) where more than 2 million vehicles were sold in 2008.
The plan is for the 207 Sedan to be assembled as of October 2010 in Naza's Gurun plant located 380 kms to the north of Kuala Lumpur.
Peugeot Automobiles is thus reaffirming its ambition to become a long-term player internationally, with a focus on a region of the world with high potential, thanks to this partnership which is set to develop in the future.
