Just because International Draco Racing’s Bertrand Baguette is already champion, it doesn’t mean he isn’t racing as hard as ever. Starting from fifth position, he methodically climbed the field to take his fourth win of the season. Behind him were Carlin Motorsport’s Oliver Turvey and Comtec Racing's Jon Lancaster.

Oliver Turvey took advantage of the reverse grid, to strat on the first row ahead of Pons Racing's Federico Leo, P1 Motorsport's Daniil Move and Carlin Motorsport's Jaime Alguersuari. Turvey got off to a flying start, moving ahead of Daniil Move after the first corner. The start went less well for Alguersuari, who finished the first lap in sixth place.
While Turvey was trying to knock Daniil Move, Bertrand Baguette and Jon Lancaster were all over Federico Leo in third, allowing Alguesuari, Epsilon Euskadi’s Chris Ven der Drift, and Mofaz Fortec Racing’s Fairuz Fauzy to catch up. By now, six drivers were fighting it out for third place, but Leo refused to let them in, doing a magnificent job of holding off his rivals. Baguette attempted to pass him at the end of the long straight, but the Italian was having none of it. A few turns later, the Belgian finally found his opening. Lancaster and Alguersuari also took advantage, and within a few meters, Leo had dropped from third to sixth.

Already 2009 champion, Baguette upped the pressure to catch up with Move and Turvey, who were still inseparable. As he climbed the field, he brought with him Lancaster and Alguersuari. Baguette wasted no time in passing Move on the pit straight on lap 10. His next victim was Turvey, and the Belgian rounded on the British driver while Lancaster was busy toppling Daniil Move from third place. On the fifteenth lap, the lead changed. A highly charged Baguette shot past Turvey under braking at the end of the long straight. The two drivers had built up a significant lead over Jon Lancaster, whose race was getting increasingly difficult towards the finish, As he fought of persistent attacks from Move. But the rankings were to stay the same. Baguette was the winner for the fourth time this season, while Oliver Turvey climbed the podium for the fifth time this season. Charles Pic, still second in the championship, is now under threat from Jaime Alguersuari, Oliver Turvey, James Walker and Fairuz Fauzy, all of whom have one single goal for tomorrow: to claim the still-prestigious second place. As for Bertrand Baguette and International Draco Racing, the Teams title is closer than ever. Although the Italians only have ten points lead over Carlin Motorsport.

Bertrand Baguette: “Having already won the title, my main aim this weekend is to enjoy myself. That’s what I did today. We would also like to win the Teams title, and we are very close now. My car was really on form today. I still want to win tomorrow, it’s the best way of ensuring the teams title!”
Oliver Turvey: “I’m a little disappointed not to have won, but we drove a good race. I got the rhythm right, but I wasn’t able to hold off Bertrand. It’s another podium finish, and major points in the Teams championship, but also for me. Second place in the Championship is till within reach."
Jon Lancaster: “This circuit is great and today showed that you can overtake here. At the start of the race, we lost time behind Leo, but it wasn‘t easy to overtake him. He ended up making mistakes, and we benefited from that. At the end of the race, I was suffering with my front tyres in poor condition. By that point the car was becoming difficult to control.”
